The September Concert is a series of free concerts held annually on September 11th.

"After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music."

Inspired by these words of Aldous Huxley, The September Concert was born in 2002 on the first anniversary of 9/11. Since then, on each anniversary our message of peace through music has spread further and further.

In 2005 we organized 117 individual concerts with more than 3,000 performers. While these concerts were primarily held in New York City, cities across our nation as well as international cities, joined our effort to fill the skies with music.

All concerts adhere to three basic principles:

  • Freedom: All venues and musicians are free to design and organize their own concerts.
  • Equality: All music and all musicians are treated equally, regardless of genre or background.
  • Accessibility: All music is offered free of charge.

This website acts as the central information office.

The September Concert is entirely brought to fruition by the giving spirit of the participants.

Share your talent, whether you are a professional or an amateur in The September Concert. All kinds of music and dance are welcome. And if you can't sing, dance or play an instrument, you can volunteer your time or simply come out and enjoy the concerts.
PERFORM: Sing. Play music. Dance.
OFFER VENUES: Share your space.
VOLUNTEER: Donate your time and skills.
SPONSOR: Contribute money or service.
